REPORT ON STEEL
Towards End Of Month’ (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The British engineer’s report to the provisional board of the New Zealand Steel Company was expected to be made towards the end of this month, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) said in Parliament today. Replying to a question from Mr C. J. Moyle (Opp., Manukau), he said the board would report to the Government soon afterwards. Mr Marshall said it would be up to the Government to decide if the engineer’s report was released publicly. However, there would be a comprehensive statement released at that time. Earlier, in replying to a question on behalf of the Minister of Works (Mr Allen), Mr Marshall said it was expected the site of the new steel works would be in the South Auckland area, although other sites were still being investigated.
