Anglers Seek Extensions
A resolution that Lake Coleridge remain open for fishing in the lake and around river mouths till June 30—an extension of two months—was adopted at the annual meeting of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening. The Coleridge season normally closes on April 30. The decision will be referred to the society’s council for approval. The meeting also decided, subject to the council’s approval, that the lower Selwyn remain open for a further month this season as a trial. This would mean the season in the lower Selwyn would close on May 31, 1965. Extension of the season at Lake Coleridge would enable anglers to fish for very large rainbow trout that are most likely to be caught at the end of the season.
