CANTERBURY TEAM
Match Against Motueka A Canterbury cricket team with a blending of experience, youth, and promise, has been selected to play Motueka, at Motueka, next week-end. The team, the first to be picked by the new sole selector (Mr W. McD. Anderson), is: B. Andrews (Lancaster Park). G. T. Barrett (Riccarton), J. E. England (Old Collegians), P. G. Z. Harris (St. Albans). I. R. Hartland (Sydenham), A. R. Hounsell (Christchurch Boys’ High School), C. R. Nicholson (Ashburton), P. A. Sharp (WestUniversity), C. J. Stevens (H. 5.0.8. K. Thomson (Sydenham), J. R. Veitch (West-Univer-sity). A number of players were not available. Of particular interest is the i Inclusion of the young Christ, church Boys' High School fast bowler Hounsell, who was a member of both the Canterbury Brabin and Rothman’s elevens last season. He will Join another teen-ager, Andrews, who played for Canterbury last year, and Nicholson, a left-arm opening bowler, who played one game each for Canterbury and Otago in the 1959-60 and 1983-64 seasons respectively. The Motueka team has a solid nucleus of Central Districts players in B. L. and I. R. Hampton. L. B. Reade, B. E. Congdon, and the captain of the successful Hawke Cup team, D. V. Spence.
