Joint Rescue Exercise
Members of the Field Ambulance unit, based at Burnham Military Camp, will have a one-day search and rescue exercise in the Lake Forsyth area on Tuesday. Also taking part will be members of the police force from Christchurch. The purpose of the joint exercise is to carry out various methods of casualty evacuation from rugged terrain. Methods of crossing rivers with improvised rafts, individual flotations (floating across rivers or lakes on stretchers) carrying patients through rough country and methods of lowering patients down cliffs will all be undertaken.
