Tech. Extensions To Cost £150,000
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) ■ WELLINGTON, October 2. . The Government has authorised the preparation of plans for extensions to the present science block at Christchurch Technical College. The work will cost about £150,000.
This was announced today by the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) in a message to Mr R. M. Macfarlane, member for Christchurch Central. The new buildings of 22,000
sq. ft. will provide for the expansion of the polytechnic. They are to be designed as part of the ultimate development of the polytechnic and will include 11,100 sq. ft of science laboratories and classrooms and the administration suite for the future institute. “This is the first stage in the development of the future polytechnic in its own buildings,” said the Minister. “Additional accommodation will be added as the demand increases.”
