Sunny Day Yesterday in Christchurch was fine and sunny, with warm afternoon temperatures. The top temperature recorded at Harewood was 67 degrees at 3 pm. A temperature of 65 degrees was recorded in the Botanic Gardens, also at 3 p.m. At 6 am. the temperature was 39 degrees, 58 degrees at 9 am., 61 degrees at noon, and 62 degrees at 4 p.m., with a reading of 60 degrees on the Government Life building at 4.30 pm. The wind was a light southwesterly during the morning, but changed to a light north easterly at midday. Blood From Waipara Sixty-two persons gave blood when the mobile unit, of the North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service visited Waipara on Thursday. Seventeen were new donors. On the unit’s previous .visit to the area on June 20 last year, 54 pints of blood were given. The service has now received 729 pints of blood from 211 persons at Waipara in 11 visits. Fishing Rivers The North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society reports that at 9 a.m. yesterday the Ashley and Selwyn rivers were clear and fishable. The weather at Rakaia Gorge was cloudy. The Waimakariri and Rakaia mquths were dirty, the Hurunui very discoloured, and the Waiau very dirty.
