Old Rate For Cards The special reduction in the new postage rate for Christmas cards bearing the 1964 Christmas stamp will mean a heavy demand on stocks when they become available for sale on October 12. The Post Office will accept the cards at the old rate of 2}d provided the stamp is used. The stamps, depicting the first church service in New Zealand in 1814, will be withdrawn on January 7 unless stocks are exhausted before then. The Post Office will also accept first-day covers bearing the Christmas stamp on envelopes clearly marked as such for 2|d provided they are not sealed and are for inland addresses. Full postage will be needed for overseas addresses.
