Keg Waiting For Winner
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, Oct. 1. The Royal Akarana Yacht Club, in conjunction with the cruising division of the Tauranga Yacht and Power Club, has arranged an ocean race from Auckland to Tauranga on Boxing Day. The race, which will take between 30 and 36 hours, will start at the Arakei Wharf. The yachts wil take Cuvier Island to starboard, then race straight to a finishing line outside the Tauranga harbour entrance.
The race will revive one of the features of the old Colin Norris Gold Cup AucklandTauranga race—a keg will be waiting on coronation pier for the first boat to reach there.
