Poisoning Deaths (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright! NEW DELHI, Sept. 30. A committee of inquiry appointed by the Andhra State Government has cleared the Co-operative for American Relief Everywhere (C.A.R.E.) of any responsebility in the food-poisoning deaths of 38 schoolboys at Maddikare village, the United Press International reported. The boys died on September 18 after eating food provided by C.A.R.E., which runs a school lunch programme for seven million children m India. The two-man committee consisted of S. A. Qttader, District Magistrate, and Dr. Ghulam Ahmad, Director of Public Health. After an investigation on the scene, they announced yesterday “in all probability the cause of the tragedy was local bacteriological conditions in the course of preparation, cooking and serving of the midday meal.”
