MILITARY TALKS FOR MALAYSIA

High-level talks between Malaysian, Canadian and American military missions are expected to be held in Kuala Lumpur early next month to discuss Malaysia’s military build-up. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence (Inche Abdul Kadir Bin Shamsuddn) said today that arrangements for the Canadian and American military missions had been made. “We have indicated a date and they are expected to reply soon," he said. A Malaysian mission to the United States and Canada returned home last week The English language “Malay Mail" reported today that Malaysia expected to obtain Thailand’s approval for operations against the Communists which might extend into southern Thailand. Joint Operation
It was understood that a joint operation would begin as soon as official approval was given In Bangkok, the newspaper said, adding that “agreement in principle has already been reached." The newspaper said New Zealand troops were “expected” to take part in the operations.
