Pakistan Has Good Record
The Pakistan cricket team which is to tour New Zealand this summer will come with a highly creditable test record to uphold. In the last few years, Pakistan has drawn test series with England, and India, and won rubbers against New Zealand, Australia and the West Indies. It is significant, perhaps, that its best performances have been on its home pitches. In 1954, Pakistan drew its series with England in England and in 1954-55 drew a rubber in five dreary drwan games with India. In 1955-
56, Pakistan beat New Zealand, two matches to nil with one drawn. In 1956-57, it beat Australia in the only match played and a vear later lost, 3-1 to the West Indies in the West Indies. But in 1958-59 at home it beat the West Indies, 2-1. Since then Pakistan has lost to Australia, in Pakistan, 0-2; drawn again with India without a match being finished; lost heavily to England in England and lost 0-1 to England in Pakistan. But its full record of 11 wins and 11 losses in 42 tests makes impressive reading for New Zealanders.
