League World Cup Will Be Held

(Neto Zealand Press Association' AUCKLAND, September 22. The New Zealand Rugby League council tonight confirmed that it would stage the World Cup contest next year. Its members discussed a recommendation from the Australian League seeking to have the tourney postponed for two years.

It was decided unanimously by the New Zealand League to continue with arrangements. The tournament is to be held jointly in Australia and New Zealand, and boookings for the French and Great Britain teams, which will play

in New Zealand, will be made this week. Dr. L. J. Cooney, the president, said that should the French be weak they would affect only one gate in Australia, France play Australia at Brisbane, and will meet Great Britain and New Zealand in New Zealand.

Dr. Cooney said that the International Rugby League Board had decided to stage the World Cup in 1965 at a meeting in New Zealand during 1962, and that there had been nothing subsequent to that meeting to alter that decision. The tournament is scheduled to begin on May 29.

The New Zealand conference will be held in Auckland on November 21 this year in stead of in April as in previous years.
