Record Bid By Snell?
P. G. Snell is “definitely interested” in attempting a world record at Lancaster Park after the Olympic Games—depending on his success at Tokyo. After Snell had been in Christchurch for the unveiling of a plaque commemorating his two world records, the Lions Club wrote to him, suggesting that he may like to attempt a record. No distance was specified. The proceeds will go to the Canterbury Athletics Centre for the all-weather track at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Snell’s records on Lancaster Park are over 880 yards and 800 metres.
