Obituary MR R. H. WEBB
Mr Rickards Hickman Webb, who died In Christchurch this week at the age of 80, was a former chairman of directors of Aulsebrook and Company, Ltd. He joined the firm as an office boy after being educated at Cathedral Grammar School and Christ’s College, and was with it until his retirement In 1944 except for a break for overseas service in the First World War. Mr Webb retained his interest with the firm after retirement, as he was chairman of directors from 1946 to 1951.
He was a keen sportsman and played tennis until about five years ago. He formed his own tennis club, the Aikmans Road Tennis Club about 40 years ago. He was an early member of the Christchurch Golf Club. After the’ Second 'World War, Mr Webb was a member of the manpower board. He was interested for many years in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Merivale, where he was a member of the vestry. He was also on the St. George’s Hospital Board. Mr Webb is survived by a son and daughter.
