LEADERSHIP COURSE
Marist Fathers 9 Colleges The seven Roman Catholic colleges conducted by the Marist fathers in New Zealand are combining this week to hold a leadership development conference in Wellington. They are St. Augustine’s (Wanganui), St. Bede’s (Christchurch), St. John’s (Hastings), St. Patrick’s (Wellington), St Patrick’s (Silverstream), St Patrick’s (Timaru), and St Paul’s (Parorangi). The conference has been convened by the Provincial of the Society of Mary (Father J. A. Mannix) to prepare selected students from the colleges for higher responsibilities. These senior boys will be shown their obligations in intellectual, civic, public, parish, and international affairs by 16 speakers, each of whom is a leader in some branch of civic life. The closing address will be given by the American Ambassador (Mr H. B. Powell). St. Bede’s College representatives at the conference are:— P. Duncan, J. Ryan, M. Ward, R. Watson, J. Casey, M. France, J. Wooles, P. McMahon, B. Callanan, and W. Gee.
