Fell From Train
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. A police inquiry is being made into a mishap on the special train to Hastings on Saturday when two 19-year-old youths fell from it between Waipukurau and Waipawa. An officer of the Railways Department said today it was believed the youths, who travelled on the Blossom Fair excursion train, had climbed from the leading carriage to the engine tender, and from there on to the roof of the carriage, where they are said to have fallen to the track as the train rounded a curve after it left Waipukurau.
Because of the extreme rowdiness and unruly behaviour on the excusion trains this year the department is understood to be seriously considering discontinuing the special services to the Hastings Blossom Festival next year.
