RETURN TO N.Z.
Priest From Fiji (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 4. A man who toured New Zealand as chaplain and conductor of the Trapp Family singers nine years ago returned for a visit on Saturday in a different capacity. He is the Rt. Rev. Msgr. F. Wasner, now a parish priest in Fiji. The purpose of his visit is to attend the consecration of Dr. Brian Ashby as Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch. Dr. Wasner worked with the Trapp Family from 1938 until they stopped performing after a United States tour in 1957. But in his present capacity he is still very active in the musical field. Wtih the help of an assistant Fijian priest, trained in New Zealand, he has translated English psalms into Fijian and set them to chant melodies.
