CITY’S TOTEM POLE

Move From Park Proposed

Moving of the totem pole from Little Hagley Park to “a more suitable location” was proposed by Cr. A. R. Guthrey at the City Council’s meeting last evening. Perhaps it might be better at the airport near the American headquarters, he said. It seemed a little out of place where it was. and some overseas visitors thought it was a Maori svmbol.

The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) said it was a gift from the city of Oregon and the reserves committee had agreed that the park was a suitable place.
