Unconvincing In Rain (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) CAPE TOWN, July 19. Western Province stopped the winning run of the French Rugby team at Cape Town yesterday, winning by 20 points (a goal, a dropped goal and three penalty goals) to 11 (a goal, a dropped goal and a penalty goal). The French team, which won its first two tour matches convincingly, appeared to be ill at ease in the rain and trailed 3-14 at the Interval.

They pulled up to 11-14 early In the second half, but Western Province finished the stronger. The result was encouraging for South Africa’s prospects in the international against France at Springs next Saturday. All the Province points were scored by candidates for the Springbok team. The centre, D. Stewart, scored a try, converted it, and kicked a penalty goal. The winger, J. Engelbrecht, got the other try, the lock; J. Naude, kicked two penalty goals, and the full-back L. Wilson, dropped a goal. Herrero (lock) got the French team’s try, P. Albaladejo dropped a goal, and P. Dedieu kicked a penalty goal and converted the try.
