BINGO CLUBS

Many May Be Illegal (N .Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 19. Twenty million British bingo players might find their halls being closed down after a London court decision in a test case on Friday. At least five million people play weekly, and about 75 per cent of their clubs could be affected. Mr E. D. Smith, Magistrate at Wells street (London) Court, ruled that the Lucky Scoop Club was not a club within the meaning of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963. He fined the organisers £320, with 250 guineas costs.
