PRINCESS TOWED
No Bells For Service (ti.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) BORGHOLM (Sweden), June 28. No wedding bells will ring for the London businessman, Mr John Aihbler, when he marries Princess Margaretha of Sweden here on Tuesday—the vibration would disturb television transmission of the service, officials at Gaerdsloesa Church said today.
A transmitter antenna perched in the tower is the only visible reminder of the 20th century in the tiny whitewalled church, founded in 1138, where candles are still the only means of lighting. Since Mr Ambler’s engagement was announced last February, the church has become one of the favourite tourist sights on Oeland, Sweden's “island of roses” off the south-east coast of the mainland.. Guests who will be at the wedding include King Gustaf Adolf, of Sweden, and his British-born Queen, Louise, a sister of Earl Mountbatten, Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Prince Bertil of Sweden, the bride’s three sisters and her brother, 18-year-old Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, and her widowed mother, Princess Sibylla.
