Bishopdale Bus Service

Sir, —I understand the Transport Board proposes to extend the Harewobd road bus service along Farrington avenue. While this could be a good idea in a few years, when the shopping centre is completed, could we not have an extension of the Greers road via Condell avenue bus route now? If this route was extended to Breens road via Kilburn street, Farrington avenue, isleworth street, returning via Leacroft street, Raleigh street and Kilburn street to Greers road, many

of the 300. or so householders who now have a long walk to Harewood road or Condell avenue would be served.. In any case, the Harewood r6ad route will soon need extension up to Gardiners road as sections are now being sold in Cotswold street and a diversion of this bus to Farrington avenue is unnecessary.— Yours, etc., COLD WALK.

June 23, 1964. [The general manager of the .. Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardell) replies: “The board "has not made any decision to run a bus along Farrington avenue at the present time. All of the board’s routes are periodically reviewed in regard to the need for extension,-and this district will be considered when reviewing the routes servicing this area.’’]
