Fees Reduced At Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 25. Nomination and acceptance fees for races at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meetings next season will be, at an average, £2 10s cheaper than for previous seasons. The club’s current fees for a particular’ race amount to 0.75 per cent of the stake—the lowest in the Dominion. Next season they will be reduced to 0.5 per cent, half the rate of most trotting clubs. For a race worth £looo— aw -age stake at Auckland Trotting Club meetings —the nomination fee was £2 and the acceptance fee £5 10s. Next season they will be £1 and £4. For the club’s richest race, the £5OOO Auckland Trotting Cup, the fees were £l3 and £24. If the stake is again £5OOO next season, the fees will be £8 and £l7. This season the club received £9815 in nomination and acceptance fees. At the lower rate they would have been £5889, a reduction of £3926.
The club’s president, Mr P. R. Bridgens, in announcing the reduction today, said that his committee was “doing its best” to answer the nationwide plea for relief to racing owners.
