New Refinery

The Shell Company’s 12,146ton Dutch-manned tanker, Kopioneila (Captain K. Prins), is due at Lyttelton from Marsden Point on Monday. The Kopionelta, which was here last week discharging overseas cargo, is the first

overseas-registered tanker to bring a petroleum cargo for Lyttelton direct from Marsden Point.

Recently, the Shell Company’s smaller coastal tanker, Maurea, which • recently replaced the Tanea on New Zealand registry,, discharged a bitumen cargo from the new refinery. At Lyttelton the Kopionella will discharge 1,473,000 gallons of premier motor spirit and 1,860,000 gallons of regular motor spirit. The balance of her cargo will be discharged at Bluff. This comprises 670,000 gallons. of gas oil, 140,000 gallons of kerosene, 667,000 gallons of premier motor spirit and 365,000 gallons of regular motor spirit. The next overseas-regis-tered tanker due here from Marsden Point is the British Freedom, which is expected next week. She discharged an overseas cargo here earlier this month.
