Tar
Sir, —Mr Pollard in his comments on the North Island use of imported English tar and the South Island surplus of local tar has suggested collaboration by the Minister of Works with the gas industry. Would it not be better to invite the Minister of Works to do as his colleague, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, intends to do with the cement shortage problem and have a full investigation into the whole question on the use of tar, its imports from overseas, and its life as a roading material compared with the bitumen from our newest local industry.—Yours, etc., TAR POT. June 18, 1964.
