Too Cold For Indians

The cold South Island winter appeared to be feared by Indians who undertook grubbing work in the North Canterbury Nassella Tussock Board’s area, the board’s secre-tary-manager (Mr F. J. Foley), said in his report to the board yesterday.

At present 14 Indians were working in the board’s gangs, but Mr Foley said it seemed as if there would be no more available until after the winter.
