SOLD STALE CREAM

Shop Loses Licence "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, May 15. The Auckland Metropolitan Milk Board has cancelled the licence of a milk shop-milk bar proprietor whose wife sold two quarter-pints of stale cream, 19 days and 14 days old, to a woman customer. The proprietor, who appeared before the board, said the stale cream had been set aside from fresh stocks in his shop, and had been sold by mistake by his wife during a busy time. Mr T. Bloodworth, chairman of the board, said the man had been prosecuted last year on charges of tampering with cream bottle caps and storing cream for sale which did not comply with the required standards. He had been fined £l7 10s with costs and fees of £lO 7s. Asked why he had not offered to refund the customer her money when she returned to the shop with an inspector, the proprietor said he had not thought of it at the time.
