Hotels
Sir, —Has the Licensing Control Commission inspected the Belfast Hotel recently? J am sure they could not have failed to notice the extreme congestion, especially at peak hours on Friday and Saturday evenings. There is insufficient standing room and seating accommodation, no car access to the bottle store, and customers have to carry heavy parcels a considerable distance. There is insufficient room for darts. Surely if more accommodation cannot be provided then it is time another hotel was built for such a large and growing district as Belfast. The present one is hopelessly inadequate.—Yours, etc.,. CROWDED OUT. May 11, 1964. [The chairman of the Licensing Control Commission (Mr S. T. Barnett) said: “The commission has commenced its reviews of hotels in terms of section 310 of the Sale of Liquor Act, 1962, but has not yet reviewed the hotels in Christchurch and environs. In the meantime the Licensing Committee has the over-sight of hotels in the area.”]
