GERMAN AIRLINE
Interest In N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 1. Two representatives of the German airline Lufthansa are in Auckland this week to appoint Tasman Airways as the general agent for the German line in New Zealand. Mr Hans Bank, regional director for Lufthansa in the Middle East and Far East, and Mr Max A. Springweiler, Lufthansa representative for Australia and New Zealand, said the German airline would begin flights to Sydney next year.
Mr Springweiler said the airline wanted to get German travel agents to New Zealand to see more of the country. They would then be able to sell New Zealand to the German people, who, he said, had become Europe’s greatest travellers.
He said the German people had no currency problems—they were able to take out or bring into the country as much foreign currency as they wished. Mr Bank said that the standard of living was very high in Germany and the people were richer now than they had ever been. He said that if tourists travelled as far as Australia, it was the airline’s intention to try to get them to visit New Zealand.
