AUTHOR’S WE DIES
(N.Z. Press Association)
NELSON, April 1. Mrs Thelma Sutherland, wife of the New Zealand writer, Temple Sutherland, died in Nelson yesterday. To thousands of New Zealanders, Mrs Sutherland will be known as “Sam,” the name she is given in her husband’s books.
During the earlier years of her married life, Mrs Sutherland resided at Gowanbridge, on the upper Buller, where her love of the out-of-doors found full expression, particularly in the depression years, when she shared her husband’s life as a gold-digger in a bush clearing.
