Drilling Soon At Yardarino

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PERTH, April 1. West Australian Petroleum Pty., Ltd., expected to begin drilling the Yardarino No. 1 well during the first week of April, the managing director (Mr G. M. Furnival) said yesterday. He said the well would be 30 miles south-west of the recently completed Wichemia well, and 30 miles from Eneabba No. 1 well where traces of gas were discovered in 1961. Mr A. F. Griffith, Western Australian Minister for Mines, announced that the Continental Oil Company of Australia was one of the companies with which Wapet was negotiating farmouts.

Continental is a subsidiary of Continental Oil Company of Delaware, United States. The proposed agreement would cover 11,500 square miles in the Fitzroy basin and 34,000 square miles in the Carnarvon basin, he said.

D.I.C. Turn-over Shows Rise

Directors of D.1.C., Ltd., Dunedin-based department store, report that for the company’s half year ended January 31, turn-over was slightly ahead of that in the first half of the year before. It is estimated that profit for the same period has been maintained. The board has declared a preference dividend for the half year at the rate of 5 per cent per annum, payable May 1, ex dividend, April 24.

Assoc. Group Has New Gas Flow

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, April 1. The Associated Group has recorded another gas flow, this time from its Richmond No. 16 well. During a test on the interval, 39934046 feet the well produced a gas flow of 4.25 m cubic feet a day through a jin button hole choke.
