TITLE BOUT NOT FINAL
No Agreement On Purse (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 1. Negotitaions were taking place for a Tuna Scanlan-Earl Nikora fight, to be staged in Dunedin, but this was definitely not final, said Scanlan’s manager, Mr L. Tansey, tonight. He was commenting on a Press Association report from Dunedin which quoted an Otago Boxing Association spokesman as saying that agreement had been reached on the purse and “there is no doubt it (the bout) will eventuate.”
No agreement had been reached on the purse, said Mr Tansey.
“Offers made by Otago before Scanlan won the Empire title were good,” said Mr Tansey. “However, there are other associations—Hamilton, Wellington, Hastings and Rotorua —endeavouring to stage the bout.”
