Boxer Hurt, Fight Off
"The Press" Special Service
WELLINGTON, April 1. The Wellington Boxing Association has postponed the New Zealand middle-weight champion Earl Nikora’s fight with Pat O’Grady, of England. The bout, scheduled for April 20, will now take place in mid-May. This is because O’Grady aggravated an arm injury in training. A piece of bone was subsequently taken from his elbow, but he hopes to resume
training next week. O’Grady was the fifthranked middle-weight in Britain before coming to New Zealand last year. O’Grady has done all his fighting in New Zealand to date in Auckland and late last year was outpointed by the British Empire champion, Tuna Scanlan.
O’Grady, 24, turned professional in 1960, and has had 30 fights.
