AROUND THE GREENS

Results of various fours tournaments ot Beckenham this season were: President’s Cup: B. Chapman, F. Ledgard, F. Davidson and J. Lyell (skip); Harker-Brown Trophy: J. Hunton, R. White, H. Pellow and R. McNabb (skip); F. J. Mann Memorial Salver: R. Tanner, F. Harper, G. Price and Lyell (skip). D. Clark won the handicap singles and Chapman and J. Marriott the handicap pairs. ¥ ¥ ¥

J. Turpin, a semi-finalist in the Centre champion of champions singles, presented a prize to the Canterbury club for junior fours. Mr Turpin has devoted much of his time to the coaching of new players and his presentation is an endeavour to lift the junior standard. The winning four was Wootton, Smillie, Thomas and Forrester (skip). As an appreciation of Mr Turpin’s work, the juniors presented

him with a crystal vase.

All of the Christchurch club’s competitions have now finished and results of the final events are: Colts singles: L. Robinson won with both lives intact. Junior Cup: N. Owen, triumphing over a number of more experienced players, beat L. Gasson in the final. Club fours: This popular event was won by F. Adams, N. Gandell, P. McCormack and A. Taylor (skip); the runners-up were Owen, A. Kinvig, F. Kinvig and M. K. Boon (skip). Struthers doubles: In the final of this handicap event, E. Black and R. Hay (skip) beat W. Olds and S. Robson (skip). In the Perry Cup (handicap pairs event), A. McMillan and F. L. Donnelly (skip) beat D. Nyhane and R. A.
