Ships Search In Gulf

A series of flares seen off the northern end of Tiritiri Island touched off a search involving several ships in the Hauraki Gulf tonight.
The police said later the flares came from Whangaparaoa.
The frigates Rotoiti and Pukaki, which were exercising in the gulf, were directed to the search.
The police launch Deodar put to sea and other boats were asked for assistance.
