BLACK STOCKING. March 30, 1-64.
Sir,—Congratulations to Mr V. J. Corbett on his opinion of nurses’ uniforms. 1 was recently a patient in St. George’s Hospital, Hyde Park corner, London, and was impressed by the nurses’ attractive though traditional uniform and discreetlyapplied make-up, eye shadow, etc. It is a dreary business lying in a hospital and 1 think it is a nurse’s duty to look as attractive as possible. I suggest replacing the present waitress-type cap with a flattering English model. Lectures on good grooming in the nurses’ curriculum would not be amiss. —Yours, etc., FLORENCE / NIGHTINGALE, 1964. March 30, 1-64.
