NORTHERN ENTRIES
Trio From Awapuni "The Press” Special Service PALM. NORTH, March 24. Bandon, Tuskar Rock and Vivid Light, which will be taken south to Riccarton tomorrow by their trainer, N. D. Eales, all worked solidly at Awapuni today. Bandon, which is expected to test his southern rivals in the George Adams Handicap on Monday, worked in dashing style over six furlongs and Tuskar Rock ran fast over half a mile with the Feilding candidate Misere, whose gallop also left no doubts that he will be hard to beat this week.
Working 40ft out on the course proper, Bandon appeared to hold the edge on Apa at the finish of six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last three in 40sec. Bandon had a lot in reserve. He is right at his peak. Apa has not been racing well. He has a chance to redeem himself in the Feilding Cup on Saturday. The best gallop over half a mile was by Misere and Tuskar Rock. They left the distance behind in 51sec and were well matched at the finish. Tuskar Rock will race on the second and third days at Riccarton.
