TAKANINI VISITORS
Preparations For A.J.C.
“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, March 24. The visitors, Starlit, Tilka, Laramie, Wizard, Musketeer, Starloch and Warea Boy were on hand at Ellerslie this morning, continuing their preparations for the Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting, which begins on Saturday. Except for Starloch, a Brighton Hurdles candidate which jumped four hurdles well, they were kept to pacework. Tilka did not have the happiest of trips north from Wanganui, but the others appear to have travelled well. Tilka bruised a hip while travelling, but it did not seem to worry her as she worked this morning. A further indication of her condition should be given when she goes at speed on Thursday. The well performed filly, Hakawai, from Bulls, is being stabled at Takanini, where she did light work on the two-year-old track this morning. She is in the care of her trainer, W. L. Aitken. Grand win, which does not have a first day engagement, Funny Story and Tasman Sea are expected from Hawera on Thursday. Funny Story and Tasman Sea are Easter Handicap candidates. Grand Win, a three-year-old filly, was among the Easter Handicap entries, but injured herself slightly in training and will now be reserved for the second and third days of the meeting.
