WIRING EXAMS.
Use Of Book Contested Dissatiisfaction with the new waring rfgulartion examinations for electrical trade apprentices was expressed by Mr C. J. Suckling at the annual conference of the Institute of Elcctricans in Christchurch yesterday. In the past, apprentices have had to rely on their memories during examinations, but under the new system introduced last year, they can now use the wiring regulation book to assist them. ‘‘This new system is not going to fulfil the requirements of our growing industry.” said Mr Suckling who has conducted classes for apprentices at the Christchurch Technical College for many years. Finding a certain regulation in the book was easy enough, he said, but knowing how to interpret and apply it was an entirely different matter. “Interpretation is most important as the regulations are the law,” said Mr Suckling. Other delegates agreed.
