Linwood Loses On Ist Innings
A fine unbeaten century by B. D. Coley enabled Naenae College to head Linwood High School on the first innings when the match was resumed yesterday. However, rain had saturated the pitch end play was delayed H hours. Coley batted with assurance and maturity. He used his strength with great effect on the on-side and later In his innings, displayed an ability to cut the ball that was a sheer delight The Linwood bowlers, of whom D. M. Quested was the meet effective tried hard on an unresponsive pitch but all were renerous with their loose balls. Scores: Naenae 197 for eight declared (B. D. Coley 10? not cut W J. Torrie S 3, R. W. Smith 19: D. M. Quested five for 44), Linwood 134 and 67 for two wickets (G. Macann 29 not out).
