AUTHORITY’S MANAGER
Salary Up To £4500 (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 13. The Auckland Regional Authority this evening decided to appoint a general manager, secretary, and treasurer. The position of general manager, which will be advertised overseas as well as in New Zealand, will carry a salary of £3750 to £4500 or more if merited, that of treasurer £2500 to £3OOO, and that of secretary £2OOO to £2500. The conditions and terms of appointment were referred to the finance and policy committee for a report to be presented at the meeting of the authority next Friday.
Mr F. W. T. Milne said it would not be good policy for the authority to advertise the position of general manager at a higher salary than that paid to top civil servants. Hie chairman, Mr D. M. Robinson (the Mayor of Auckland), said: “Personally, I think the job more important than that of Secretary to the Treasury.”
