Letters Of Sympathy
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Feb. 17. Many dozens of letters of sympathy, from New Zealanders in all parts of the country and all walks of life, have convinced the Chilean couple, Mr and Mrs Sergio Larrain, that New Zealanders are among the kindest people in the world. The letters have expressed sympathy to the couple for the loss of their baby son, who was born prematurely at the National Women’s Hos-
pital after three blood transfusions before birth, but died the next day. “There are so many kind messages that we can’t possibly answer them all personally,” said Mrs Larrain today. "We find it hard to believe the kindness of New Zealanders and want to thank everyone for all they have done and written.” The couple will probably leave Auckland for Santiago, Chile, in the next few days.
