Success At Sydney (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 17. Slxteen-year-old lan O'Brien last night set a new world record for the 110 yards breaststroke. He was timed in 68.5 sec, 1 l-10sec faster than the record set in 1961 by Chet Jastremski, of the United States. O’Brien, swimming alone In the special record attempt at Drummoyne, Sydney, pool; covered the first 55 yards in 32.55ec. His coach, former Olympian and world record holder, Terry Gathercole, said that O’Brien looked a certainty for a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
