Cricket Broadcasts
Sir.—The cricket matches featuring South Africa and New Zealand provincial teams are of as much interest to the New Zealand cricket supporter as the South AfricaAustralia test series. It appears, from the programmes printed, in the “Listener,” that Christchurch supporters will not have the privilege of listening to either the Northern Districts game or the New Zealand Colts game. Why?—Yours, etc., L.J.L. February 13, 1964. [Mr L. E. Hunter, district programme organiser of the N.Z.8.C1, replies: “Coverage is planned on a New Zealaindwidej basfe and is in keeping wiilth, the differing status of individual matches. For the remainder of the series Chrisitchureh listeners will hear direct commentaries from their local stations on four of the five mateihes still to be played, the exception being Central Districts. Commentaries on this game will be from 2ZA and 2YC (660 kc). the latter giving fair reception in the Christchurch area. As representation in New Zeeland Colts is on a wider basis of selection than the other two-day fixtures, coverage was extended to include commentaries from 3YC.”]
