Take-Over Bids For “Dominion”
Sir,—Personally, I am very glad to see that the "Dominion” will probably change hands soon, because I think it is a terrible paper, dull, unimaginative, and full of uninformed opinion. I think that any change would be for the better. Thomson's bid is not uninteresting, but the “keep New Zealand free of big business” protests sound as if the Communist Party motto impressed out of all proportion at • the last elections. The average Australian paper is astonishingly mediocre, catering for little more than the totally uneducated; so much for the Adelaide bid. Auckland, that big, bad city, is also making an offer; but I think there’s only one real solution: “The Press” should enter a bid.—Yours, etc., D. A. KERR. February 14, 1964.
