Fire Board And Local Reform
The Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board was set up under legislation and did not appear to be affected by the City Council’s proposal to promote a bill for a regional authority for metropolitan Christchurch, said the chairman (Mr W. R. Campbell) last evening. There would still be an opportunity to present the board’s views, Mr Campbell said.
“Whatever happens, gut position would not be altered except that we might have to report to a major Christchurch body,” Mr W. E. Olds commented.
Recognition.— West Germany has decided, to recognise the. revolutionary government in Zanzibar.— (Bonn, Feb. 13.)
