JAPANESE TRAWLERS
Discipline In N.Z. Waters (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 13. The Fisheries Board of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture has repeated urgent instructions to all fishing vessels operating near New Zealand waters that they are not to enter the territorial waters of New Zealand. This was stated in a Note received by the Government from the Japanese Embassy today. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said the board had also advised that any vessel found to have violated N*ew Zealand territorial waters would be immediately ordered to return to, Japan. Mr Holyoake said the Embassy’s Note also stated that the board was now giving urgent consideration to a study to determine the most effective measures to supervise and control fishing vessels operating in distant areas with a view to preventing incidents in the future.
