WORLD TRIP IN KETCH
Auau Kai At Russell
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 16.
The 37ft ketch Auau Kai. from Los Angeles, arrived at Russell late this afternoon. The ketch is skippered by the owner, Mr R. Bath, a freelance photographer. With him are his wife, Beth, and two sons, Phil, aged 16, and Roy. aged 12. The ketch left Los Angeles on June 30 and sailed by way of French Polynesia. Rarotonga and Tonga. It was delayed off New Zealand when a sail blew out. In Tonga they were joined by a young American, Mr G. Sofen. for the trip to New Zealand. The visit to New Zealand is part of a round-the-world trip.
