PREFABRICATED CLASSROOMS

Cost To Education Board The amount of Education Board finance involved in prefabricated classrooms will be the subject of inquiry by the Canterbury School Committees’ Association. The Hornby School had put up with a “small township” of prefabricated rooms for seven years, said Mr E. P. Winter. “Our new area is not going to run out of pupils, but there is no move to replace the prefabs,” he said. The Gilberthorpe and Shirley Intermediate were cited as schools with “permanent prefabs.” "Purely as a temporary measure, when it is known that they will not be required for more than a year or two, prefabs are not bad, and in fact are quite good rooms,” said Mr R. W. Taylor. “I still think it would be interesting to know how much is tied up.” said Mr Winter.
