Sumner

Sir, —"Sumner Bay’’ thanks the council for the improvements they have made in the borough, especially in building the new tea-rooms, which compete with tea-rooms over the road run by private enterprise. He then goes on to say that one of the greatest improvements is in demolishing the old tearooms. But is this not being done to build a children’s paddling pool which will cost thousands of pounds to build and will only be used in the summer months (if we get any summer) in spite of good safe paddling for children being available in the sea only a few yards away. In reference to the coloured lights in the Norfolk pine trees, "Sumner Bay” must have been asleep for months as these have been off for months. If the council want to make a real improvement why not redeck the old pier? —Yours, etc., THE COLONEL SAYS. • November 6, 1963.
